Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook all have remedies to assist copyright and trademark owners whose content has been infringed. The procedures for reporting and taking down content are fairly straightforward. The platforms have links to both copyright and trademark policies, each of which take the owner through a series of steps to report claims of infringement. In some situations, the owner may be required to show proof that it has legitimate rights in the image, logo or text on the page which it is reporting. This can be proven through a certificate of registration from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, or other means.
